Power of Presence
A strength of this ministry is that we have a physical location. Many come to the coffee shop to hold meeting. It is a hub for the community to use freely, which did not exist before. There is no public library or community center that people can make use of, and so we are positioning La Kay Kafe to be this center for our community.
We use the Kafe to host church on Sundays. This offers a free space for the church that we attend as a family when we are in Haiti to conduct services. Prior to the Kafe the church had to pay a monthly rent for a facility. The church has held services at the Kafe since March 2023 and has hosted two weddings of the church members. The most tangible measure is having seen multiple people come to Christ.
The message of the gospel is bringing hope to the people of Haiti - they are seeing the love of Christ made evident in the day-to-day of their lives. Our focus with the Kafe Ministry is to live out the practical application of faith. We are reminded of this from Matthew 25:
“(35) For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, (36) I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ (40) “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
